However, Marvel leaves nothing to chance and releases the superhero print in an unprecedented number of American halls, about 4,600. The previous record was named Despicable Me 3 with 4,529 venues, followed by the 4,475 venues of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
In addition to Avengers: Infinity War, Disney has also taken over the rest of the top three American opening weekends thanks to the Star Wars films The Force Awakens ($248 million) and The Last Jedi ($220 million).
Avengers: Infinity War also scored the highest on a global scale with 640 million dollars so far. Not counting the United States, however, The Fate of the Furious experienced the most successful opening weekend of all time with 443 million dollars. Avengers: Infinity War stranded at $382.7 million because it didn’t got shown in China until two weeks later. Avengers: However, Endgame will be released everywhere at the same time.
